The culmination of 10 years of storytelling on the big screen.
What. A. Ride.
It’s not the perfect movie; far from it. It’s not even my favourite or the best MCU film. But it’s a wonderful piece of craftsmanship to bring together all the films that preceded it into one gigantic finale for Phase 3.
Clearly, some MAJOR spoilers ahead.
It’s been a while since I caught any film, but it felt like I had to go catch Captain Marvel before Endgame drops.
Not the best movie, not the worst.
Bigger. Badder. Funnier.
Deadpool 2 is friggin’ awesome.
Where do I begin?
As usual, spoilers ahead.
Dare I say that Black Panther is the best Marvel studios film ever?
As usual, spoilers ahead.
The hype was real with Thor: Ragnarok. I loved the idea of funny Thor in space with the Hulk bro-ing it up, and given Marvel’s track record, it was bound to be heaps of fun to watch, even if the plot may be a bit thin and the villains poor.
But man, did Thor: Ragnarok surprise me. While the plot and pacing was off, it defied my expectations and can handily call itself one of the most enjoyable Marvel films to date, plus it has an awesome villain.
Look, let’s be clear. This isn’t the greatest Spider-Man film ever. It’s also not the greatest MCU film ever either. But while it’s not a Spider-Man 2 or a Winter Soldier, it’s still a pretty damn fun movie to watch.
I admit, I harboured plenty of doubts regarding Wonder Woman after the critical failures of BvS and Suicide Squad. But the reviews were good, so I decided to give the DCEU another go.
And while this isn’t an epic film, it’s a pretty darn good film. HUGE spoilers ahead!
This ain’t Vol. 1, but it’s still a heck of a lot of fun!
Spoilers, as always. This warning may be a bit more pertinent, given that Guardians hasn’t been released in a lot of places yet.
Hands down the BEST trailer I’ve watched this year.
I thought the Thor: Ragnarok trailer was great for its fun and hip vibe, and the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer was great to watch like a mini-film (and the hype over the best on-screen Spider-Man yet; sorry Tobey Maguire!).
But THIS. This is what a trailer should be. Teasing the audience with every scene. Showing us glimpses of the epic saga that’s about to unfold. The visuals are stunning. The lines are well chosen. THE HYPE TRAIN IS CHARGING THROUGH TOWN LIKE A DREAM SEQUENCE IN COBB’S BRAIN, PEOPLE.
I hope they do the ‘start with a panting protagonist’ thing only up to Episode IX though. We had Finn do that for Episode VII, and now Rey for Episode VIII. Maybe just do Poe in Episode IX and that’s it. Don’t need too much of that.
