Usually I like to write private reflections that go into a lot of detail, including about the people that I’ve had the fortune (or misfortune) to meet. But, for a change, I decided to do my reflections in a more public setting, to maybe better distill what I’ve experienced and learnt throughout four years of higher education.

The World Now
I recall distantly having written several political posts at the start of this blog, but then that promptly gave way to reviews of movies, TV shows and anime. I feel like it’s time to go back to talking and ranting about politics just a little, before I turn into someone completely divested from the world around me.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
This ain’t Vol. 1, but it’s still a heck of a lot of fun!
Spoilers, as always. This warning may be a bit more pertinent, given that Guardians hasn’t been released in a lot of places yet.
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 3rei!!
You know, I don’t even know why I bothered with 3rei!! given how disappointed I was with 2wei! Herz. But this is a decent return to form for the Prisma Illya franchise, even if I was kinda disappointed it didn’t take the risks I had hoped a series with the name Fate in it would take.
As usual, spoilers are ahead.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Trailer
Hands down the BEST trailer I’ve watched this year.
I thought the Thor: Ragnarok trailer was great for its fun and hip vibe, and the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer was great to watch like a mini-film (and the hype over the best on-screen Spider-Man yet; sorry Tobey Maguire!).
But THIS. This is what a trailer should be. Teasing the audience with every scene. Showing us glimpses of the epic saga that’s about to unfold. The visuals are stunning. The lines are well chosen. THE HYPE TRAIN IS CHARGING THROUGH TOWN LIKE A DREAM SEQUENCE IN COBB’S BRAIN, PEOPLE.
I hope they do the ‘start with a panting protagonist’ thing only up to Episode IX though. We had Finn do that for Episode VII, and now Rey for Episode VIII. Maybe just do Poe in Episode IX and that’s it. Don’t need too much of that.
Thor: Ragnarok – Trailer
This looks like it’s going to be SO MUCH FUN. Lots of Guardians vibes here, what with the music and the Dave Bautista/Drax humour when Thor meets Hulk. Cate Blanchett might actually make an epic Marvel villain for once, but I’m not holding my breath on that one. I spot Loki too, but he doesn’t seem to be the main villain this time, so we’ll see how that plays out.
The colours are pretty vibrant here (including for the film title), which further emphasises the more cheerful tone the movie seems to be headed towards. Given that the press so far seems to hint at some sort of ‘buddy road trip’ film, I’m totally expecting the trailer to only be showing the early parts of the film, and Thor is going to escape with Hulk and try to find their way back home.
HYPED.
Plextor M8Pe(G)
To an average consumer like me, a SATA SSD is more than enough speed. But I only got 250GB of SSD storage, and my games were still running off HDDs. The allure of an upgrade to an NVMe drive was too great.
But instead of going with Samsung for my storage needs again, I went with Plextor instead.
