Ducky Secret

2015-11-26 20.03.17So yea, once I got the Ducky Shine 5, I figured, why not go the whole hog and get the just released Ducky Secret too?

It’s not that my current Logitech wireless mouse is any bad. It’s pretty decent for a regular mouse. But the rubber on the sides of the mouse have been wearing down to the plastic beneath, and it runs on alkaline batteries. Rather than go through the trouble of having to change batteries once in a while, and the fact that USB will ensure a better signal than wireless every time, it was an easy upgrade to make.

Not to mention the RGB lighting…

Captain America: Civil War – Trailer

Oh goodness me. I just creamed my pants.

It looks like the Russo brothers have another brilliant film on their hands. Avengers: Age of Ultron looks more and more like an anomaly in the MCU timeline.

I love how grounded the motivations of Captain America is in Civil War, replicating the tone from Winter Soldier. In the comics, if I’m not wrong, he opposes the Superhero Registration Act as a matter of principle of sorts. But here, he’s torn between being a law-abiding citizen and his deep friendship with Bucky. It’s a great continuation of the Captain America story, and I heartily approve.

And Tony Stark, boy oh boy. It looks like he’s really hurt by Steve turning against him, what with the ‘am I not your friend too?’ line. Add to him cradling War Machine in his arms, this looks like it’ll turn the massive Civil War storyline into something more manageable by crafting it from a personal perspective.

Also, great to see Black Panther appearing. I’m looking forward to this, and I can’t wait to see what the Russo brothers will do now that they’ve been handed the reins of the next Avengers films.

La Tormenta Chapter 29

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9055193/30/La-Tormenta

So since the last update, it’s been well on 14 weeks and an entire school semester had passed. Ugh. I totally failed at the 1000words/week thing, partly because school was tough as hell (worst semester EVER, and I’m not exaggerating), and partly because I was constantly distracted by plans to build my own PC next summer.

It was going to be my graduation present to myself, but my MBP has been giving me more and more problems recently, and I lust after tech. On hindsight, doing research on parts now only increased the desire, but I might not have loads of time after graduation to do a good job of it. And given the pace of technological advancement, waiting another year seems pointless.

But that’s beside the point.

So this chapter finally lets me wrap up Edolas fully, harping on the theme of family again by reuniting Carla and Shagotte. It’s my terrible attempt at trying to bring out the theme when the arc is effectively over, but hey, I tried.

In other news, I churned out a lot of useless pre-Tenrō crap and tons of fluff for which I had no idea I had the capacity to write (so much of). The story was grim for large periods, and will get even grimmer later on. So a bit of light-hearted fluff, as a kind of ‘calm before the storm’ seemed appropriate.

Well, I spent most of my recess week doing this stuff again instead of studying. I swear I have no idea how I manage to get acceptable grades with this kind of work ethic and the competition in the course. Damn bell curve.

But hopefully after the exams, I can crank out another chapter before I jet off for the holidays. It’s one I’ve been looking forward to writing, so hopefully it wouldn’t take too long.

Warcraft – Trailer

It looks like it could be a brilliant spectacle, but I have my doubts over a live-action video-game adaptation for a story of Warcraft’s scale. Granted, it’s only focused on the initial conflict between humans and orcs, but it’s a little weird. I think game stories are still some ways off being mainstream entertainment, but Warcraft could be the one to make it work.

Unfortunately, the trailer felt like a discount Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. I know there’s a lot of practical effects, particularly for the orcs’ makeup, but then there’s the unavoidable CGI that just didn’t do it for me. And hell, I really wish they went for something more character-driven than a set-piece war flick. Medivh or Arthas’ corruption would be awesome, or Thrall’s rise from captive to leader. But then I think that would make for a better TV series instead, covering the entire Reign of Chaos/The Frozen Throne storyline.

Oh well, I’ll probably watch it eventually.
