Everything We Think We Know About Addiction Is Wrong – Kurzgesagt

As interesting as this theory might be, I do have some qualms about whether this is applicable to all drugs or just heroin or select drugs that have been abused by people. Having learnt enough pharmacology to hate my life, it’s clear that some drugs can lead to withdrawal symptoms when people are taken off of them, and there could be a pharmacological effect contributing to addiction as well.

Obviously, anything to do with health is a complex issue, especially ones that also involve psychology. But the war on drugs in the US is really far too oppressive, and needs to stop no matter what. Portugal has a system where they help drug addicts instead of just sending them to prison, and it’s actually helped with the issue. So no matter what might be the true cause of addiction, there’s definitely a way to solve the problem. People just need to be willing to work together to bring it to fruition.

Adele – Hello

I don’t usually have the habit of discussing singles (and I haven’t even posted about any of the new albums I’ve heard recently), but I’ll make an exception for Adele.

I hope the rest of 25 is happier, because Hello is evidently not a ‘make-up song’. Of course, I don’t really care because it will probably be awesome no matter what sort of theme the album has.

As for Hello, it’s a welcome reminder that Adele is still around, and is still capable of making great tracks. I love how tastefully the music video was done, without any of the junk that clutters most modern pop tracks these days. Granted, pop songs are very different musically, and the videos sort of reflect that. But then, it demonstrates so much that’s wrong with the modern music industry these days.

Thankfully, there are no scantily clad women gyrating or twerking. There are no men in chains and hoodies throwing money around. There are no objects that serve only to flaunt the wealth of the artist. Just the music to lose yourself in, and an artful video to enhance the experience.

I can’t wait for 25.

Liverpool vs. Tottenham Hotspur 17/10/14

First match under Klopp’s reign. I thought about blogging on Rodgers’ sacking and the excitement at finding out we managed to hire friggin’ Jurgen Klopp, but I basically orgasmed all over Twitter already, so it was rather pointless.

But Kloppo’s arrival meant that I quickly rediscovered my love for football, and the match showed some positive signs.
