It’s a pretty good franchise to be honest. Funny and heart-warming. I liked the first film, the second was not bad for a sequel, but that trailer for Kung Fu Panda 3? LOVED IT. Can only hope it can keep up the humour, and maybe shave off fighting for more character development and comedy.
There’s not really much to say about Love Hina other than it’s a very sweet story.
I could go on. But the true takeaway from Elfen Lied is not the dismemberment or the nudity, but the themes. The human condition is laid bare in Elfen Lied, the ugly side of humanity revealed to the world in the bloody manner humans have conducted their lives, and continue to even to this day.
My terrible camera skills and the use of my phone camera really doesn’t do the beauty of these things justice.
I learnt of the crazy gorgeous and niche-tuning Final Audio Design via Head-Fi.org, and I’ve lusted after these babies for a long while now. While I understand that FAD are more sound than design, you can’t run away from the fact that the stuff they make looks ridiculously beautiful.
They say curiosity killed the cat. I don’t have a cat for it to kill, but it certainly mugged my bank account.
There’s something about Japanese boutique audio brands that really call out to me. The stuff they come up with is really quite unique, and they draw my attention like nobody’s business. Coupled with the fact that they are pretty exclusive to the domestic market, it makes them akin to collectors’ items.
Ocharaku first caught my attention with the Flat-4 Sui, which had a very interesting concept behind it. Then they had the Donguri, but as with the Flat-4, I felt my budget couldn’t handle that sort of cost for interest’s sake. But the Donguri Raku came along, and I was sold.
Haven’t watched Interstellar, but Matt Damon finds himself trapped on a planet on his own again. Cast looks amazing, story looks like it could be quite good. So on the watch-list it goes.
I haven’t blogged about manga in a long while now, maybe because I gave up on ranting about Naruto, and Fairy Tail was never really worthy of big criticism. Rather, it just annoyed me. After all, it never raised my hopes of it becoming anything more than just an above average piece of entertainment (now below average).
But I’m more than a little angry at this chapter. Sure, I got mad at how Zeref is the most useless bogeyman since bogeymen existed, and how Mashima-sensei is chopping down two main villains in Acnologia and Zeref into just one. I got mad at Zeref’s backstory appearing out of completely nowhere, with zero narrative prompt to bring about the flashback, and I hated the utterly pointless Avatar arc. I also got real pissed writing the Edolas arc given the number of plot holes I found and had to address. I didn’t rant about them here though.
I wouldn’t say that chapter 439 compares in the intensity of my anger over other chapters, but it’s the kind of thing that slowly drives you up the wall because it looks good on the surface, but stinks of stupidity when you delve deeper.
This makes me MUCH more relieved. I always felt like I didn’t write female characters well, and I don’t think I ever passed the Bechdel Test for La Tormenta. Mad Max made me feel inadequate and chauvinistic, but this at least puts my mind at ease. A quick check in Wikipedia tells me I definitely passed the sexy lamp test, but I don’t think I passed the Mako Mori test (which is VERY hard to do in a story with a male main character). Oh well, the only way is up, right?
